The International School Psychology Association (ISPA) extends its support to our colleagues in the affiliate French Association of Psychologists in the National Education System (AFPEN) and endorses their statement following the terrorist attack of January 7, 2015. ISPA shares the feelings and concerns expressed in their statement on the inhuman killing of people at the offices of the journal Charlie Hebdo and subsequent terrorist acts in France. We too extend our condolences to the victims’ relatives and friends and to the French people. We strongly share and stand for AFPEN’s democratic values of tolerance and respect for freedom, and in this particular situation for the freedom of thought and expression, recognizing the diversity of perspectives and valuing respect for difference.
