2. Consultant history
Dr. Michael Furlong is a professor and former chair of the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at the University of California Santa Barbara. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 16, School Psychology) and the American Educational Research Association, and an elected a member of Society for the Study of School Psychology. He is the director of the Center for School-Based Youth Development that promotes research related to positive youth development and the development of valid strength-based measures for research and evaluation applications. Dr. Furlong served as the Editor of The Journal of School Violence (2008­–2015). He is a co-editor of the Handbook of School Violence and Safety (2006, 2012) and the Handbook of Positive Psychology in Schools (2009, 2014). Among the measures he has developed for basic research and evaluation are: California School Climate and Safety Survey, California Bully Victim Survey, Multidimensional School Anger Inventory, Kindergarten Student Entrance Profile, and the Social Emotional Health Survey System (Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education versions).
