We would like to call your attention to the following online petition:
On the 2nd of April this year, the courts of Arnhem-Leeuwarden in The Netherlands have uplifted the ban on a child sex advocacy association called Martijn. Martijn was started to offer a network of support for pedophiles and is known for their glorification of sexual relationships between children and adults. Martijn advocates that “erotic contacts between adults and children of any age, that are pleasurable and consensual, should be accepted by society”. After having been banned by the courts of Assen in July 2012, the appeal courts have now decided to uplift this ban. This means Martijn is now legally free to advocate for unimaginable things like normalizing sexual relations between children and adults, legalizing child-pornography and abolishing age of consent.
To us at Operation Bobbi Bear (OBB) and Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), this is unacceptable! We believe that by allowing Martijn and similar associations/organizations to exist, children’s physical and sexual integrity is at risk. This applies to children in The Netherlands, but also to vulnerable children in other parts of the world. Based on Article 34 of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child [UNCRC], Article 9 of the UNCRC Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, or Article 8 of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse [Lanzarote Convention], we believe the Dutch government should enact legislation to protect children and society from such child sex advocacy groups.
Together OBB and APLE have decided to join hands across oceans and start an international protest and petition. With this petition, we are ringing the alarm worldwide on the recent developments in the Netherlands concerning Martijn. We are calling on the Dutch government for the rebanning of Martijn and legislation to prevent the possibility of child sex advocacy activities by Martijn or other organizations. APLE and OBB are asking you to join us in our call. Please support this petition and let our voices for protection of children be heard worldwide!
